TV experience

Author: Shaunk...

I spent Saturday in Manchester watching a TV crew from ITV. They were filming in the Trafford Centre for a program called Neural Drive, a short documentary series following top Athletes, in this case a championship arm wrestler. I took part in a test where they were comparing his brains ability to control his muscles against ordinary untrained people.

It was only a small team filming (a camera man, sound man, director and researcher) and the tests were been run by a professor from Manchester University.

It was interesting to see how they went about the process of filming. They was not so much following a storyboard but you could tell they had worked together as team before and all knew their roles. The camera man and sound guy seemed to know what footage needed to be captured with the director watching a monitor and making suggestions as they went along. Some of the footage was then reenacted when they filmed from another angle. This highlighted the importance of teamwork and showed how important it is for everyone to know what they need to do to produce the final work.

A good experience which will be used well when filming our horror film.
