XHTML Refresh
Author: Shaunk...
I watched the XHTML essential training title lat week to recap on my skills. I knew pretty much everything covered and even spotted a few outdated methods. The main things I took away from the title were mainly good house keeping tips:
It covered in some detail the meaning of the declarations shown at the top of the page, I usually ignore these and let Dreamweaver do the work. I could vaguely remember what they were for but now I understand better, especially character encoding.
Something I had never considered before about XHTML is that it was initially intended as a method of sharing information and data. There is a selection of tags intended not to purposefully effect the look of a document but to change the meaning of text.
Headers. I knew already how these should appear correctly in semantic layout however I had not considered how they also affect indexing and search engine listing.
