Sk-etchbook

While watching some of films on the the Animation Unlimited DVD I was asked by my housemate if I was an artist. Until now I haven't really considered myself in this way, sure I design, construct and attempt to produce aesthetically pleasing yet purposeful works but does this automatically make me an artist.

I made this piece playing around in illustrator, if I gave it a title like "Thinking Inside the box" could it then be art?
