Here are a few things you should bear in mind when creating web content.

1) Users are idiots.

2) Users don't read.

3) Prioritize content, you may only have a few seconds to grab a browsers attention so make content relevant.

4) Keep sentences short and concise. You can always expand on things in a dedicated area/page.

5) Bullet points are good.

6) Have at least one call to action on each page.

7) Design should support content. Pretty is good but nobody's gonna hang their computer on the wall.


And on a lighter note I've just read about a Japanese company that travels all the way to America to do user testing. According to their statistics America are the lowest common denominator, if a site is successfully navigated by the American public then it will work anywhere. Haa ha ha.
