Lectures on Design
Author: Shaunk...
Here are a few really good lectures given relating to good graphic design, what is effective, what really communicates and how the ideas arise.
David Carson
David Carson on design + discovery
Extremely well presented lecture. David engages the audience with humor and familiarity which makes for easy watching. There is an excellent choice of chosen visual material which personifies the thrust of the presentation. David is a successful print & typography designer and stresses the part part inspiration plays in design he also states that he has no formal design training, his background is sociology.
Paula Scher
Serious Play
Paula presents in a more introverted manner yet she still comes across open, natural and friendly. She covers her rise to fame over the years reflecting on some of her most successful works, sharing her opinion on what makes a successful designer and also comments how admired or "serious" works become "solemn" and loose their appeal. She also stresses that good design comes about through play and how inexperience can be better than experience.
